SEE BUI THANH TAM PARODYING

The painting art of Bui Thanh Tam’s is the kind of thought ones. The human being and the society are viewed through his offensive eyes and his paintings are drawn in the parodic method.

Under the bush of Bui Thanh Tam’s, the present-day people in his paintings seem to be overcheerful, prosperous, even bourgeois but lack of something; it is likely to be the depth of emotion. It is very the point that the artist looks toward.

The name of the paintings partly reflects his view in painting art “ fly together”, “happy steps”, “Happy”, etc. Hidden under the splendid color and purposely satire, the worry of the artist about the empty and boring life can be recognized. This thought is clearer in universality , under the smiling masks are the faces of leather balls.

Many characters in his paintings are the mixture of the style of Western clowns and Vietnamese ones, sometimes are dotted slightly with the style of Mona Lissa. This is probably one challenge which the artist sets up for himself. The greediness about the format, however, includes the painter’s panic.

Because offending this well known over the world painting with the thought of being against the backward, meaningless things is the work which the pioneer artists in the world have done.
In order to enjoy the paintings of Bui Thanh Tam, the watchers, besides the sight, need have the sensitive eyes towards the human and society. This is also the way of the present-day young artists who, like Bui Thanh Tam, are trained basically.
